Shelby Miller, Principal
Shelby Miller has served foundations, universities, and nonprofits for more than 30 years. Shelby specializes in planning, management, and evaluation; program and policy development; maternal and child health, early childhood and adolescent research, policy, and services; and family support and self-sufficiency. Previously, she was a program officer at the Ford Foundation and a research associate at the Child Welfare League of America. A graduate of Smith College, she has a M.A. in child development from Tufts University, and has completed all but her dissertation requirements for a doctorate in developmental psychology from Emory University.
HENRY MILLER, PRINCIPAL
Henry Miller has more than 30 years’ experience in communications and public affairs – managing the reputations, visibility and public policy issues of corporations, government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Henry was Chief Operating Officer of Goodman Media International for 14 years and, before that, Managing Director at Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart (now Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide). Previously, he was CEO of New York City’s hosting of the 1992 Democratic National Convention; Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Atlanta, responsible for external affairs, and an Advisor to two U.S. Ambassadors to the United Nations. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in sociology from the University of Virginia.
Vanessa Rudin, Senior Associate
Vanessa Rudin is a social impact service designer and entrepreneur with 7 years' experience as the founding CEO/CFO of Project Enterprise, a microfinance institution in New York City; 9 years' experience developing and delivering product and service offerings in the healthcare and childhood development spaces; and 5 years' experience as a software analyst. Vanessa specializes in building the capacity of multi-disciplinary teams to design, improve, manage, and monitor programs using design thinking and creative problem-solving techniques. She is co-founding a social venture in the root cause medicine space using lean startup and business model canvas approaches. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and from U.O. Eugene with a master's degree in Environmental Studies, and Community & Regional Planning.
Peter Abrams, Data Analyst
Peter Abrams is the team's expert on statistical and applied social research methods, and custom database application development and implementation. Peter brings more than 30 years of experience on program evaluation regarding early childhood education, student performance, mental health, child welfare, drug/alcohol abuse, migration, veterans, and refugees. He graduated with an A.B. in Mathematics from Columbia College and an M.S. in Sociology from Columbia University.
